Committees
Much of IFRA’s work is accomplished through the efforts of industry volunteers working with IFRA staff on various committees and task forces.
The five main committees of IFRA are:
- Scientific Committee (SC): monitors the safety evaluation activities of IFRA to assure the continued safe use of fragrances
- Environmental Task Force (ETF): advises the industry through the SC on matters pertaining to the environmental safety of fragrance materials and their use
- Communication Working Group (CWG): develops and implements strategies to inform IFRA members and other key stakeholdesr about the work of the association and its position on issues of public debate
- Joint Advisory Group (JAG): ensures cooperation between scientists belonging to the fragrance manufacturer industry and to the fragrance user industry on questions about the safe use of fragrance ingredients
- Analytical Working Group (AWG): develops and validates methods of analysis for materials of special interest to the fragrance industry.
IFRA also participates in the following joint committees:
- Committee on Safety in the Workplace and the Environment (SHE), focusing on occupational safety and health issues
- Hazard Communication Working Group (HCWG), assessing fragrance materials for hazard classification and labelling for production, transport and use.
