July 2007 - Results of the first phase of the IFRA Compliance Testing Program

All products tested have been found to be IFRA-compliant.

The first phase of IFRA’s compliance program, which was initiated in May 2006, ended in May 2007. It included the development of the analytical method for the determination of IFRA prohibited (banned) materials plus a first round of confidential analysis of three types of marketed products out of the categories; fine fragrances, cosmetics and toiletries and household products and detergents.

In total, 50 products were analysed - 15 eau de toilette (EDT), 15 shampoos and 20 powder detergents - out of a random selection of 457 worldwide market products (144 EDT, 149 shampoos and 164 powder detergents).

In this analysis, carried out by an external laboratory, no IFRA prohibited materials were detected above a level of 0.01%, which has been established by IFRA as a “no-concern level” and generally considered as the limit of accurate quantification.
Accordingly, all products have been found to be IFRA-compliant.
