The European Flavour and Fragrance Association (EFFA) has established 16 consortia covering more than 200 substances made by its members. Each group contains at least one substance that has to be registered before December 2010 as its production is greater than 1,000 tonnes/year. The consortia (listed below) each represent a number of substances, all of which have similar structural characteristics and so offer read-across potential. The substance groupings are based on the scientific expertise of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials and follow the guidance developed in RIP 3.3.
